There is plenty of documented research available that show the effect of Homa on pathogens. There is a list at the end of this article.

In my experience, Agnihotra is able to reduce efficiently all kinds of pathogens, virial, bacteria & more. it clearly strengthens the auto-immune system. it can not reverse a viral infection or guarantee to prevent one.

It is a natural technology to restore your atmospheric environment to a healthy one with no side effects.

Without a doubt, we all should follow the advice to slow down the spreading of viruses, which we all know by now.


There is ample research as well that the immune system gets stronger with Agnihotra and its Ash. In part this is due to the reduction of anxiety and in part by the presence of nutritious atmospheric conditions produced by Agnihotra. How does that happen that the outer environment enters the human body-mind vehicle? Through the breath and the entire skin of a human is a breathing aparatus. The Vedic Sanskrit term for the life force energy controlled by breath is PRANA.

Agnihotra, according to Vedic scriptures, is a process to create strong and healthy PRANA – even the animals and plants. The result is improvement in immune system strength, reduced cortisol levels and increased CD-4 protein levels.


Spread of the virus is shown to be worse in polluted areas. Agnihotra purifies the atmosphere and effectively reduces air pollution. In this line of thinking, we have only anecdotal evidence which makes it plausible that Agnihotra is effective in reducing the spread of corona virus crisis.

What we know Agnihotra can:
1) Reduce the pathogens in your environment. In lab tests with other viruses before this pandemic, Agnihotra is shown to reduce viruses on average 50%.
2) Eliminate pre-existing conditions such as asthma which make the virus more dangerous.
3) Support the immune-system.

Negative ions are an indicator of fresh unpolluted air. Agnihotra increases the number of negative ions in the air giving fewer particles for the droplets to cling onto.

Because the environment in an area where Agnihotra is regularly performed is sanitized, the effects of picking up pathogens on surfaces or in the air in that environment logically are reduced in terms of the ways it is normally picked up. However, research has not been done to prove that.

Experiments conducted in separate research institutes and universities in Pune & Himalchal Pradesh show that the number of bacteria in the air is reduced substantially performing Agnihotra in a room. The evidence on reduction of bacteria is clear. Viruses have been shown to be reduced by an average of 50%.

Pre-existing conditions like heart diseases and high blood pressure, chronic respiratory disease like asthma, Diabetes, Cancer and other diseases known to weaken the immune system indicate segments of the population most at risk for corona virus. These conditions are notably more frequent with aging populations.

Agnihotra has been shown to reduce high blood pressure. Checking blood pressure before and after the ritual, the result was that blood pressure returned to a normal just after experiencing Agnihotra.

Agnihotra helps to strengthen our lungs making the body more resilient against respiratory ailments.

Shree Vasant taught us that food grown in Homa gardens are more nutritious and herbs grown in Homa atmosphere have greater medicinal properties. Shree encouraged us to combine these herbs with Agnihotra ash powder. A devotee of Shree, Monika Koch revived methods of using Agnihotra Ash to make folk remedies = her ebook is below FREE . Traditional folk preparations that you make at home can all be enhanced with Ash from Agnihotra as traditionally done in Ayurveda. Here are some relevant examples.

Garlic Honey Ash : Peel 1 whole head of garlic and crush the cloves by pounding them in a mortar and pestle. Then add 2 tablespoons local wild (ahimsak) honey and keep pounding until the garlic becomes transparent. Place the garlic honey mixture in a clean dark glass jar or stainless steel and add 250 grams of honey and a tablespoon of Agnihotra ash. You can also add organic Tumeric powder. Take ½ teaspoon daily as a preventative, and as a remedy take ½ teaspoon 3 times daily. It can be diluted in warm water or tea. It cab be applied directly to the skin for cuts, bites, and wounds. Eating Parsley, which is also high in vitamin C, can lessen the garlic breath smell.

Ayurvedic Ghee Preparation for use with anti-viral herbs such as Echinecea, Thyme or Oregano :
‘Medicated’ ghee is an ancient Ayurvedic preparation. The traditional method is to add 50 grams dried herb (or 100 grams fresh herb) to 800 ml of pure water and bring to a boil. Then simmer until it has reduced to 200 ml (a quarter of its volume). Add 200 grams of ahimsak A2 ghee and continue to simmer gently until all the water has evaporated. Then remove the plant material by passing the mixture through a sieve into a pre-warmed dark glass container. Add 22 grams of Agnihotra ash powder and stir. In this technique both the water soluble and oil soluble properties of the herb are extracted.

Instant Method: Add a few drops of Echinecea, Thyme or Oregano essential oils to some Agnihotra Ash Ointment for a very quick and easy chest rub.

Fenugreek Seed Tea: fight respiratory tract infections, reduce fever, remove mucus and toxins. Simmer 1-2 teaspoons per cup of water for 10 minutes. Add a pinch of Agnihotra ash powder per cup after steeping. You can add lemon juice and honey. Drink 3 cups a day.

Steam Inhalation: This is a traditional Ayurvedic method for clearing head colds, congested respiratory tracts and sinuses. Pour boiling water into a large pot and add 1-2 tablespoons of the appropriate herbs and a teaspoon of Agnihotra ash powder a tablespoon of sea salt. Then lean your head over the rising steam and cover both head and pot with a towel. Breathe in deeply through your nose with eyes closed for 10-20 minutes. Keep your head warm after by wrapping the towel around your head.

Appropriate herbs to use are those with volatile oils such as Thyme, Sage, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Chamomile and Pine Needles. You can ad a few drops of essential oils such as Eucalyptus, Peppermint Oregano or Pine to make it more potent.

Seasonal Tea: Echinacea, Tulsi, Elderberry, Elderflower, Yarrow, Peppermint, Chamomile, Hibiscus, Simmer for 10 mins and then switch off the heat and add Agnihotra ash powder. Let steep for 10-15 mins. You can mix the herbs together – use about 1 tablespoon per cup. Elderberry has powerful anti-viral properties. Other very good herbs include Lime flowers, Ginseng, Oregano, Sage, Thyme, Ginger and Cayenne. Drink regularly and sip throughout the day. If flu is going around, then a mixture of the seasonally available herbs would be the best preventative tea.

Studies have shown that stress weakens our immune systems and is the cause of a number of chronic diseases. Get enough sleep. Practice Pranayam breathing exercises especially at Agnihotra time, which calms the nervous system, increases lung capacity, alkalizes and oxygenates your body.
